The Project Saboteur
Dion Kotteman, Dutch National Audit Authority
It is amazing to see that every project on earth has opponents, without this truth being described or understood properly. There are always those that benefit from the failure of a project. There are many cases where people take action to deliberately destroy a project.
People have the inclination to adjust truth to suit themselves and thus serve their own interests: more power, more income, more respect. An example of this is the credit crisis; data is manipulated to suit one’s own interests, matters are portrayed in a better light and budgets are intentionally drawn up incorrectly. All this with the express aim of influencing decision-making processes. This is the world of project sabotage.
In this session participants will:
- Come to understand project sabotage as a phenomenon.
- Learn to recognize project undermining actions.
- Start to learn how to deal with project sabotage, when it occurs.
